G Adventures reports China bookings up 163% as visa-free entry widens
G Adventures' 2027 destinations-to-watch list is led by China. Canadian bookings are up 163% year over year, which the operator ties to an expanded 30-day visa-free entry policy. It has added nine new itineraries, including the 19-day Signature China, which runs from the Great Wall to Shangri-La and departs in March 2027.
For advisors, the commercial point is timing. Early-2027 departures are open now, and visa access is a concrete reason to reopen conversations with clients who set China aside as too complicated. Treat the figures with care. They cover the Canadian market only and are the operator's own claims, so they show direction of demand and not a global trend. Still, a small-group operator adding nine itineraries is a useful signal of confidence in supply.
Luxor's August 2027 eclipse is already moving Egypt bookings; Balkans and Central Asia follow
The same G Adventures data shows Egypt bookings from Canada up 106%, driven partly by the total solar eclipse over Luxor in August 2027. The operator has also added a nine-day Solo-ish Egypt itinerary aimed at solo female travelers.
The eclipse date is fixed and Luxor's hotel and Nile cruise capacity is limited, so advisors should lock space for eclipse-window clients early.
Other growth markets in the data:
- Albania up 117% and Bosnia up 83%
- Uzbekistan up 66%
- Vietnam also rising after Canada's expanded air agreement

Peaks of the Balkans is pitched as a year-round trek
The 168 km Peaks of the Balkans route links Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro. It is now being positioned for a May-to-October hiking season and for winter ski touring. It remains little known to US and Australian hikers.
That makes it a practical alternative or upsell for clients who want a Dolomites-style trek with fewer crowds. It also lines up with the Western Balkans demand rise G Adventures reports, so advisors have both a product and a trend to point to. October and winter positioning gives something to sell outside the peak summer window.
Vicente Pérez Rosales joins Chile's Route of Parks of Patagonia
Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park has become the 18th park on the Route of Parks of Patagonia, marking its 100th anniversary. It is one of Chile's most visited parks. Puerto Varas, in the Lakes District, gains a conservation-branded gateway.
There is little direct pricing impact. The value for advisors is in packaging. Adventure and soft-adventure operators can bundle the park into Patagonia itineraries and market it with a sustainability angle, which suits clients who ask how their trip supports conservation.
Lebanon Mountain Trail thru-hike cancelled by war, a reminder to keep alternatives ready
Lebanon's twice-yearly guided Lebanon Mountain Trail thru-hikes were cancelled in April 2026 because of conflict. The account is retrospective, but it shows how regional instability can remove niche trekking departures entirely.
Advisors with clients interested in Levant or Eastern Mediterranean trekking should treat Lebanon as unavailable for now. Türkiye's coastal trails are one alternative to steer them toward.
