One Spa Resort Opens, Another Slips: Wellness Timelines Diverge as Longevity Gets Measurable

Canyon Ranch opens its Austin-area resort tomorrow, while Six Senses Loire Valley moves to mid-to-late 2028. Meanwhile, longevity and sauna science are giving advisors firmer evidence to sell with.

Canyon Ranch opens Texas's largest spa near Austin on October 15

Canyon Ranch's new luxury resort near Austin opens tomorrow, October 15, with what is billed as the largest spa in Texas. It adds a major destination-spa option for Texas and Southwest clients who can drive or take a short flight.

For advisors, the practical work is this week's. Confirm commission terms, opening-period rates and program lengths now, before early demand sets the inventory. Ask about medical-screening or assessment requirements for longer programs, and whether the property accepts group or corporate-retreat enquiries. Sources give no rates or program details yet, so treat those as open questions for the supplier.

Six Senses Loire Valley slips to mid-to-late 2028

Six Senses Loire Valley, a 50-key hotel with a 1,670 m² spa in Sologne, is now expected to open in mid to late 2028. The project was first slated for 2022. IHG's pipeline listing still showed Q3 2027 in early October, so published dates are not reliable.

Do not sell or hold inventory for 2027, and tell any client who has asked about the property. Rates have not been published. Six Senses Milan has also moved to 2027, which suggests delays across the brand's European pipeline. Check opening dates directly with the brand before taking deposits or building itineraries around a new Six Senses property.

Longevity and heat therapy gain a measurable, evidence-led pitch

Two Global Wellness Summit items point the same way. The Super Age Games frame longevity as something to train for and measure, in the way fitness events do. Separately, researchers are calling for more rigorous science on sauna and heat therapy.

Neither changes bookings today. Together they give advisors language for clients who want data-driven programs: screening-led longevity retreats, and thermal or contrast-therapy offerings that spas often sell as premium add-ons. Cite the evidence cautiously. The coverage describes calls for stronger research, not settled findings, so avoid promising specific health outcomes to clients.
