Barbuda's De Niro Nobu resort opens tented suites for pre-opening bookings
The De Niro Nobu Beach Club in Barbuda is taking bookings for two beachfront tented suites from late December 2026, well ahead of the 36-room Nobu Beach Inn's late-2027 opening. The rate is $3,500 a night and includes breakfast, a beach BBQ dinner and non-motorized watersports.
Inventory is scarce and the product is priced and bookable now, which suits clients who want to be first in at a name-brand Caribbean property. Before quoting, confirm which experiences sit outside the nightly rate. The omakase dinner is the obvious one to check.
AmaWaterways adds a Belmond-backed Peru extension to its Colombia cruise
AmaWaterways has added a six-day Peru land extension to its Magic of Colombia sailing, starting with select April 2027 departures. There are two tiers. The Boutique tier uses Luxury Collection hotels. The Iconic tier uses Belmond Miraflores Park, Belmond Monasterio and the Hiram Bingham train, and includes a private Machu Picchu visit.
The tier choice is a ready-made upsell, and the Belmond component raises booking value. A separate trade piece on river cruise clients points to growing interest in land extensions, which supports pitching this as a package.
Tropic Ocean Airways links Fort Lauderdale and Key West by private terminal
Tropic Ocean Airways starts scheduled Fort Lauderdale–Key West flights on Nov. 27, operating Thursday to Sunday between private aviation terminals. The airline also offers private seaplane charters to The Perry Marina on Stock Island.
For advisors, this gives a drive-free arrival for ultra-premium Keys trips. The seaplane charter adds a bespoke option for clients who want a more distinctive arrival.
Mandarin Oriental breaks ground in Miami as residences sales pass $1.7B
Mandarin Oriental has broken ground on its Miami hotel and branded residences on Brickell Key. The company reports more than $1.7B in residences sales and a pipeline of 20 new MO Residences by 2031. Named locations include Kanai, Riviera Maya, Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico and West Palm Beach.
The sales figure points to steady demand for branded ownership among UHNW buyers. Advisors with wealthy clients can use hotel stays as an entry point to residence conversations. The Miami hotel also adds future luxury inventory.
Disruption watch: Hurricane Simon closes Puerto Vallarta, Delta delays Riyadh
Puerto Vallarta airport is closed through Tuesday morning as Hurricane Simon lingers offshore. Manzanillo has cancelled service. Delta, United, American and Southwest have issued waivers with tight ticket-issue and travel windows. Advisors with clients in Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita or Costa Careyes should rebook and confirm resort status now.
Separately, Delta has pushed its Atlanta–Riyadh launch to March 2027, citing regional developments. Advisors selling Saudi luxury developments or routing through Riyadh should check alternatives. The delay also signals continued caution about the region.
Canadian travel to the U.S. rises for a sixth month but stays well below 2024
Canadian trips to the U.S. have risen for six straight months, but they remain far below 2024 levels. Air returns are down 18.7% against September 2024, and car trips are down 31.1%.
Advisors with Canadian clients, or with U.S. destination suppliers, should plan for a slow recovery. Some may want to shift Canadian-market emphasis toward other destinations.
Iberostar and Palladium show rate growth, though mostly upscale
Iberostar reports sales up 7% on higher average daily rates and plans $1.16B in investment. It opens Iberostar Selection Zanzibar on Nov. 1, its entry into East Africa, and is renovating JOIA Rose Hall. Palladium Hotel Group also cites UK travellers as a leading European source market.
These are mostly upscale rather than independent ultra-luxury properties. The useful point for advisors is that rising rates support selling on value rather than price.
Fake '30-day luxury resort' challenge videos are generating calls to hotels
Fabricated social-media videos promising free stays or payouts for a 30-day resort challenge are prompting calls to luxury properties. Ambiente Sedona is one resort fielding them, including from a luxury travel agent in South Korea relaying client interest.
The offers are not real. Advisors should be ready to correct clients who ask about them.
