Operators Lean on Advisors While the Field Tests Autumn Plans

G Adventures' founder calls UK agents a bright spot and Intrepid is running an advisor-only family discount, while HX reports record Arctic suite demand. In Nepal, flooding and a deadly Himlung avalanche are complicating autumn departures.

G Adventures credits UK agents for its recovery and moves GX to Cambodia

G Adventures' founder says the UK is the company's biggest agent market and its "lone bright spot" after a "devastating" March to May. He named Trailfinders, Hays and Travel Counsellors as top partners and argued that the high-touch product depends on agents. Geluxe, Solo-ish and National Geographic Signature are now its best sellers.

The GX community-tourism showcase moved from Morocco to Cambodia, which the company calls a "values decision" because Cambodia visitor numbers are down 44%. Brazil is the GX 2027 host. G Adventures also announced the Bazaar micro-community tourism platform and named Judy Kepher Gona as global ambassador.

For advisors, the message is that the operator is prioritising the trade. Brazil may open a fam-trip opportunity, and the three newer collections are the easiest products to lead with.

Intrepid stacks an advisor-only 20% off child pricing on Family trips

Intrepid is offering an extra 20% off child pricing on top of the 20% already built into its Family trips, and the offer is available only through travel advisors. That makes it a rare price advantage over direct and OTA channels.

It covers departures from Jan 1 to Dec 17, 2027, excludes Malaysia, and is bookable through October. Family clients planning 2027 holiday or summer travel are the obvious fit, and with only a month left in the booking window, quoting should start now.

The source's body text mixes 2026 and 2027 dates, so confirm the booking window and departure dates with Intrepid before promising the discount to clients.

Nepal: Rasuwa floods and a Himlung avalanche complicate autumn departures

The UK FCDO reports major flooding on Aug 26 in Rasuwa and the Nepal–China border area. It damaged roads, transport and communications, and further landslides are possible. That matters for Langtang-area and border-region itineraries.

Separately, the Himlung base camp avalanche killed about 15 kitchen staff and guides, with one still missing, and only one team is now permitted on the mountain. The FCDO notes that Middle East airspace disruption is also affecting transit, and Nepal is granting free visa extensions to stranded travelers.

Advisors with autumn Nepal clients should ask operators about contingency routing and flexibility, check that insurance covers disruption, and re-confirm any Langtang or border-region plans.

HX reports record suite bookings after its Arctic season

HX Expeditions closed its 2026 Arctic season with its highest-ever suite bookings across 31 sailings. If that carries into 2027, premium expedition inventory could tighten, so affluent clients may need to book earlier.

The operator also trialled thermal-imaging AI whale detection aboard MS Fram and logged 26,491 citizen-science submissions. The science programme gives advisors a sustainability and enrichment angle for expedition-cruise sales.

All figures are supplier-reported.

Tambopata Research Center lets guests join Amazon fieldwork

Tambopata Research Center is the only lodge inside Peru's Tambopata Reserve. Guests can join four of the five Wired Amazon research activities, including moth DNA barcoding and the macaw project, alongside the clay lick visit.

It suits experiential, family-friendly and sustainability-minded clients who want more than wildlife viewing. The piece also flags drought and illegal mining as risks in Madre de Dios, which are worth raising when setting expectations.
