Royal Caribbean reroutes Oasis and Vision around East Coast storm
A building East Coast storm forced two last-minute Royal Caribbean substitutions, and the compensation differs between them.
Oasis of the Seas (Oct 18, Cape Liberty) dropped Port Canaveral, CocoCay and Nassau for a single Halifax call. That stay has now been extended to 6 PM Oct 21. Guests get refundable onboard credit plus a 50% future cruise credit per paid guest.
Vision of the Seas (Oct 17, Baltimore) lost Bermuda and spent an overnight at Saint John with no disembarkation. Its onboard credit is non-refundable.
For advisors, the Vision guests, who got no shore time, are the likeliest to push for more compensation. Contact clients aboard either ship now, set expectations on credits, and document any claims. Fall Northeast homeport sailings have now seen repeated weather disruption, so it's worth raising flexibility and travel protection with clients booking them.
MSC closes new Status Match applications in three European markets
MSC Cruises stopped accepting new Status Match applications in Spain, France and Italy as of Oct 15. Matches already granted remain valid. The US, UK and Canada programs are still open for now.
The commercial angle is a possible window to act. Advisors with clients who hold status on other lines can use the US match as a conversion hook while it lasts. The closures in three markets suggest the program may be withdrawn elsewhere, so don't leave those conversations open-ended.
P&O's Iona skips Le Havre as French unrest spreads
P&O Cruises dropped Iona's Oct 18 Le Havre call as French unrest grows, with more than 600 demonstrations planned. Vigo and A Coruña were also shifted, and A Coruña gains an overnight. Le Havre shore excursions are being refunded.
Advisors with clients on Western Europe, Channel or Atlantic-facing sailings should watch for further French port skips. Prepare those clients for substitutions and check each line's excursion refund terms.
Princess deepens its Western Australia presence
Crown Princess has opened the 2026/27 Western Australia season. Sapphire Princess is set to homeport in Fremantle in one year, from late 2027.
This is a forward deployment signal, not an urgent one. Advisors selling Australia and long-haul fly-cruise can start planning inventory and 2027/28 pitches around Fremantle departures.
