Hurricane Trudy forces Pacific Mexico reroutes for Virgin and NCL
Virgin Voyages' Brilliant Lady sails Oct 17 with Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta replaced by San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada. It is the ship's fourth straight weather-disrupted sailing, and excursion refunds are issued as onboard credit only. Norwegian Bliss dropped Acapulco for a sea day on its repositioning cruise as Trudy strengthened.
For advisors with Pacific Mexico bookings through late October, contact clients before they hear it onboard. Explain the new ports, confirm how credits work, and set expectations on compensation. Check the NHC outlook for further changes.
Vision of the Seas swaps Bermuda for a no-disembark stop in Saint John
Royal Caribbean changed the Oct 17 Baltimore sailing of Vision of the Seas the day before departure. Bermuda is out. Saint John is the only port, and guests cannot go ashore. Compensation is non-refundable onboard credit that varies by stateroom type.
Advisors with clients aboard, or booked on upcoming Vision Bermuda sailings, should manage expectations now and decide whether to press for more than the credit offered.
P&O's Iona drops Le Havre as French protests continue
P&O Cruises changed the Oct 17 Southampton roundtrip on Iona into a Spain-only itinerary. Le Havre is cancelled, Vigo moves a day earlier and A Coruña becomes an overnight stay. Le Havre shore excursions are refunded.
With more than 600 demonstrations planned, other Le Havre, Cherbourg and Paris-access calls could be at risk in the coming weeks. Advisors with France-touching sailings should watch for further changes.
Carnival moves to dynamic pricing for drink packages and Wi-Fi
Carnival will use dynamic pricing for beverage packages and Wi-Fi, so prices will vary by sailing and booking window. The bundles are rebranded as FunPacks.
This affects how advisors quote total trip cost and pre-cruise add-ons. Check the FunPacks rules and whether they are commissionable before the next quote, and avoid promising a fixed add-on price.
Carnival to pull Luminosa and Adventure from Australia in 2028
Carnival is removing two ships from Australia in March 2028, citing port charges and operating conditions. Luminosa's last sailing is from Sydney on March 15, 2028. Adventure moves to a 2028 Alaska season from Seattle. The ships are likely headed for North American waters, so expect more supply there and possible deployment announcements. Australia clients with 2028 bookings may see changes.
PortMiami rolls out embarkation traffic plan
With 81 days of 7 to 10 ships expected this season, PortMiami is directing passengers to entrances by terminal: the tunnel for AA to D, the bridge for E, F, G, J and V. It also urges arrival at the assigned embarkation time. A complimentary airport shuttle pilot for Carnival Celebration guests starts this month, matching the existing Icon of the Seas program. Use this in pre-cruise guidance and transfer conversations.
