Carnival pulls two ships out of Australia

Carnival is withdrawing two ships from the Australian market, citing regulatory uncertainty and rising costs. It is the largest availability change in today's set.

Advisors with Australia/NZ bookings on Carnival should check affected sailings, expect redeployments, cancellations or rebooking requests, and watch for availability and pricing shifts in the region as capacity tightens. Confirm the specific ships and dates with Carnival before contacting clients.

Royal Caribbean opens first year-round Europe season for 2028-29

Royal Caribbean will keep seven ships in Europe all year for the first time, including Rhapsody of the Seas, Explorer, Freedom, Liberty and Jewel. The program adds overnights in Istanbul and Alexandria, Santorini stops with Royal Beach Club Santorini, and a Canary Islands winter program.

Crown & Anchor members have had early access, and general sales open October 15. That makes it bookable today, and a long-lead option for clients who want Europe outside the summer window.

Carnival moves drink and WiFi packages to dynamic pricing, launches FunPacks

From December 1, prices for CHEERS!, Zero Proof, Bottomless Bubbles and WiFi will vary by sailing length, itinerary and season. Current CHEERS! is $69.95 pre-cruise. Carnival hasn't clarified whether packages bought before December 1 keep today's rates, so advisors should set expectations carefully.

Separately, four limited-time FunPack bundles ($25-$99 per person per day) can be booked online October 13-30 for sailings October 31, 2026 through December 31, 2027. The window is short, so raise it with Carnival clients now.

Hurricane Simon forces Carnival Panorama off Mexican Riviera ports

Simon is a Category 3 hurricane (115 mph) near Cabo Corrientes, drifting northwest. Carnival Panorama has dropped Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan, added Ensenada, and refunded the affected excursions.

The NHC also says EP93 is near-certain to become a tropical storm south of Mexico within a day or so. Advisors with Mexican Riviera clients should expect further substitutions and prepare to communicate them.

Weather swaps differ on compensation: Carnival Splendor and Costa Favolosa

Carnival Splendor cancels Napier, adds an early Tauranga call and a 34.5-hour Auckland overnight, with excursion refunds to Sail & Sign. Costa Favolosa loses Leknes and Bodø, gets an overnight in Trondheim and a new Kristiansand call, and offers €100 onboard credit per guest (two per stateroom).

The gap in compensation between the two lines is worth knowing when clients complain about lost ports.

MSC freezes Kenyan crew hiring and boardings after Ebola case

MSC has suspended Kenyan crew hiring and boardings through October 31 following Kenya's first Ebola case. MSC is the largest employer of Kenyan seafarers at sea, so the freeze affects hundreds of crew.

It is a precautionary operational step and currently limited to crew. Advisors should watch for any wider health protocols on sailings.

Vancouver closes record Alaska season; Disney names its first Japan ship

Vancouver ended its biggest cruise season with nearly 1.4 million passengers and 358 calls, up about 18-19% on 2025. Star Princess was the largest ship to dock. About 76% of passengers stay an average of 1.4 nights and spend about C$1,144 locally, which supports pre/post-cruise hotel packages and 2027 Alaska planning.

In new-ship news, Disney Imagination is the name of Disney Cruise Line Japan's first ship, a fifth Wish-class vessel homeported in Tokyo in spring 2029. It is not near-term inventory for North American advisors.
