Isaias Nears Gulf Landfall With Carnival Departures Days Away
The National Hurricane Center's 4 AM CDT advisory on Oct 9 has Hurricane Isaias at 110 mph and forecast to reach the Alabama/Florida Panhandle coast as a high-end Category 2 on Friday night or early Saturday. A Storm Surge Warning runs from the mouth of the Mississippi to the Suwannee River.
Carnival is already warning guests and was tracking 6 ships on 12 sailings, including Oct 10-11 departures from Galveston and New Orleans, with Tampa also affected. The storm also crosses Eastern and Western Caribbean routes.
For advisors: identify clients sailing or travelling to embarkation ports in the next 48 hours, expect delayed embarkations and itinerary changes, and have the line's weather and compensation policies ready before the calls start.
Rachel and Simon Force Mexican Riviera Reroutes
Virgin Voyages has replaced all three Mexican ports on the Oct 10 Brilliant Lady sailing from Los Angeles with Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada. It is the third consecutive sailing affected. Compensation is $100 per person in onboard credit plus a $200 per person Future Voyage Credit, rising to $200 and $300 for RockStar tiers.
Carnival Radiance skipped Cabo San Lucas on Oct 9 because of Tropical Storm Rachel but expects to return to Long Beach on schedule on Oct 11.
Advisors with Mexican Riviera clients should expect further changes and set expectations early, particularly for guests who booked for the ports themselves.
Disney Believe Sets Port Everglades Debut and Oct 19 Booking Date
Disney has named Port Everglades as homeport for Disney Believe, its fourth Wish-class ship, with a Dec 18, 2027 debut. The ship will run 4- and 5-night Bahamas and Caribbean sailings. Reservations open Oct 19, 2026, giving advisors a firm date to prepare client lists for a high-demand launch.
Fan reaction to the venue reveal is mixed, with some underwhelmed by repeat concepts such as the Haunted Mansion Parlor and Frozen dining. The Encanto stage show is new. For sales purposes, the short itineraries suit family and first-time Disney clients.
P&O Opens Winter 2028/29 on Oct 21; Arcadia's Final P&O Season
P&O Cruises' winter 2028/29 program goes on sale Oct 21, 2026, covering 130 destinations across five ships. It is Arcadia's last winter with P&O and includes an enhanced world cruise.
Arcadia then moves to Holland America in 2029, while Cunard's Queen Anne moves to P&O. The Arcadia transfer adds capacity for Holland America advisors to watch, and the early-booking window is a sales opportunity for UK-linked clients.
Carnival Freedom Exits Dry Dock; Norfolk 2028-29 Now Bookable
Carnival Freedom returned from a 35-day dry dock with a whale-tail funnel, which is lower so the ship can reach more ports. It also has a redesigned casino with 100+ new machines and a new bow crest.
Carnival has opened 6- and 8-night Norfolk sailings for 2028-29. The ship sails from Port Canaveral through May 2027, then makes a 15-night repositioning to Norfolk on May 8, 2027. The Oct 17 Barcelona transatlantic reaches Celebration Key and Florida on Oct 30.
That gives advisors new long-lead mid-Atlantic inventory and a repositioning to sell.
