Hilton Honors pilots Pay with Points on folio charges, then rolls out to 6,000+ hotels
Hilton has launched a Pay with Points pilot that lets members apply Honors points to folio charges through digital checkout. It is set to expand to more than 6,000 US and Canada hotels in early 2027.
For advisors, this changes how clients can spend points on property, not just on the room night. It may also change point-burn behavior and the incentive to book direct. Flag it to Honors-loyal clients now, and ask how on-property redemptions interact with advisor-booked stays before the full rollout.
Amex Platinum lodging credit adds a two-night minimum at FHR from 2027, and Airbnb joins Amex Travel
From Jan. 1, 2027, the Amex Platinum lodging credit requires a minimum two-night stay, including at Fine Hotels + Resorts properties. FHR bookings for Platinum clients previously carried no minimum for the $600 credit, so one-night stays will need rethinking.
Separately, Amex Travel now offers Airbnb bookings, including Airbnb Luxe, with a new $250 Airbnb Experiences credit. That nudges some luxury spend toward Airbnb. Advisors should plan FHR itineraries around two nights for 2027 travel and be ready to explain the change to Platinum clients.
Wyndham opens its reservation system to AI booking agents
Wyndham says it feeds availability and rates directly to AI agents, including Meta and OpenAI, and wants a direct path for them. The comments came from the CEO on an earnings call.
The aim is direct bookings. A route that bypasses OTAs could bypass advisors too, so commission treatment and channel positioning on agent-originated bookings are worth watching. Ask Wyndham contacts how advisor-booked rates and commissions will be protected as these channels grow.
IHG says conversions are about half of US openings and 60% of signings
IHG's Q3 update shows conversions making up about half of US openings and 60% of signings, mostly from rival brands. Room growth is forecast near 4.8%.
Advisors should expect more rebranded properties among hotels they already book. Brand standards, loyalty eligibility and commission setups can change at conversion, so confirm them property by property.
Hilton and Scandic sign Nordic franchise framework; IHG matches Amex China Platinum
Hilton signed a franchise development framework with Scandic covering Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The first named project is a 284-room Hilton at Copenhagen Airport, opening in 2029. No other hotels are named yet.
In a separate loyalty move, IHG One Rewards is offering Platinum status to Amex Platinum cardholders in Mainland China, with a 10-night fast track to 2028 and a stay rebate. It is the first such match with an international card network in the market. It matters mainly to advisors with China-origin clients.
ALL Accor+ ibis and Voyageur Mega Bonus offsets the subscription price through Nov. 20
New ALL Accor+ ibis and Voyageur sign-ups earn 5,000 or 9,000 bonus ALL points, roughly the subscription price. The membership also brings elite qualifying nights and 15% discounts across many brands. The offer runs through Nov. 20.
It may help clients close to Platinum, but the stay has to happen by Jan. 22.
Asia pipeline: Pan Pacific's 2027 slate, with Aman and Mandarin Oriental heading to Seoul
Pan Pacific plans seven openings and three renovations in 2027 under its Version 2.0 plan, mainly in Southeast Asia. Separately, Aman and Mandarin Oriental are entering Seoul, with Mandarin Oriental due in 2030.
Most of this is forward-planning intelligence rather than bookable inventory today. Advisors with Asia-focused clients can use it to anticipate new product and refreshed rooms.
Mandarin Oriental Boca Raton stalled in bankruptcy as condo buyers seek refunds
The Via Mizner project in Boca Raton is stalled. The hotel is in bankruptcy, and the condo tower faces a $418M foreclosure. Buyers are seeking seven-figure refunds.
Advisors should not expect this hotel to open. It is also a reminder that branded-residence pipelines can fail, so treat announced openings with caution.
