Storm Austen reshuffles UK and Norway sailings
Storm Austen has forced early arrivals and port swaps across Northern Europe. Arvia, MSC Preziosa and MSC Virtuosa came into Southampton early on Oct 22. MSC Preziosa's Oct 23 departure moves up to 6 p.m., with a 2 p.m. check-in cutoff. Iona cancelled Bilbao-Getxo. Ambassador's Ambition has swapped five northern Norway ports for southern ones, which lowers the aurora chances on a Northern Lights itinerary.
Advisor action: contact clients sailing from Southampton about the revised check-in times, and warn Norway clients that the itinerary has changed. Expect compensation questions, especially on the aurora sailing.
- MSC Preziosa: departs 6 p.m. Oct 23, check-in closes 2 p.m.
- Iona: Bilbao-Getxo cancelled
- Ambassador's Ambition: five northern Norway ports swapped for southern ones
Norwegian Luna loses a port to an Azipod problem; Oct 24 sailing at risk
Norwegian Luna is running at reduced speed with an Azipod problem, and NCL has cancelled the Great Stirrup Cay call. The ship entered service in March 2026 and is heading back to Miami for repairs. NCL hasn't said whether the Oct 24 departure will be affected. Guests report that no compensation was offered.
Advisor action: check in with clients on the next sailing, watch for delay or itinerary notices, and be ready to ask NCL for onboard credit for affected guests.
Princess puts Sanctuary Collection on five more Royal Class ships
Princess is extending the Sanctuary Collection to five Royal Class ships in 2027, with staggered on-sale dates. Royal Princess bookings are open now, including a Jan 4, 2027 Fiji sailing from Sydney. Regal Princess opens Nov 5, Discovery Princess Dec 4, Sky Princess Dec 10 and Enchanted Princess Dec 17.
Existing Reserve Collection bookings on Royal Princess convert to Sanctuary automatically at no cost, but they don't get the Princess Premier package that new bookings include. Advisor action: identify those clients and pitch the upsell.
Royal Caribbean: gratuity rate unchanged, and a fake notice is circulating
Royal Caribbean confirmed that its gratuity rate is unchanged at 18%. A temporary FAQ error had shown 20%. The corrected FAQ now states that the 18% drink and dining gratuities can be adjusted or removed at the guest's discretion.
Separately, a fake press release claims that daily gratuities can no longer be removed on sailings from Oct 19. Royal Caribbean says there is no such change. Advisors should expect client questions and point them to the corrected policy.
MSC's Grand Hamptons Villa gives advisors a top-tier family product
MSC has unveiled the Grand Hamptons Villa for MSC World Atlantic, which debuts from Port Canaveral in November 2027. It is MSC's first large-scale family villa. It sleeps eight, includes Yacht Club benefits and has a private cinema. Pricing is around $10,000 a night.
For advisors, it is a high-commission product aimed at multigenerational groups on a Florida homeport ship.
AAA forecasts a record 22.4M US cruisers in 2027
AAA forecasts 22.4 million Americans will cruise in 2027, up 3.6% and another record. Sailings of six nights or fewer are growing. Miami is forecast at 11.2% of passengers and Port Canaveral at 10.4%, while Fort Lauderdale slips to 5.3%. The Mediterranean rises to 6% of bookings.
Port Everglades' record 5.38 million passenger moves backs up the demand picture. Use the numbers to support early-booking messaging.
Orderbook reaches $94.6B, with deliveries stretching 12 years
The cruise orderbook has reached $94.6 billion across 81 ships, and the pipeline of 221,752 lower berths extends over 12 years. That points to a steady run of new-ship launches and heavy supply growth, which will affect future pricing and inventory. There is no immediate action for advisors, but it is useful context for long-range planning.
Royal Caribbean releases 2028-29 deployment in phases

Seven-night Caribbean sailings for May to September 2028 open the week of Nov 2, with more releases through April 2027. Advisors can plan early-booking outreach around these dates.
