Silversea's Cormorant moves the Antarctica fly-cruise gateway to Puerto Williams
Silversea has opened The Cormorant at 55 South, a 150-room hotel in Puerto Williams for Antarctica fly-cruise guests. The gateway shifts from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams, with 29 fly-cruise departures through March 2027. Fares start at £9,300 per person with the hotel stay included, and the hotel is restricted to Silversea guests.
Commercially, this is a pre/post-stay inclusion advisors can use to justify Silversea's premium over rival Antarctica products. It also applies to seasons that are already selling, so it is relevant to current inquiries, not just future planning.
HX and Antarctica21 open 2028–29 polar inventory as Asian demand grows
Two operators are now selling about 18 months out. HX Expeditions has April 2028–March 2029 on sale. Booking early earns 5% off cabins or 10% off suites, with a Price Promise. New products include a 19-day Roald Amundsen voyage with four full days in South Georgia and no Falklands call, a Greenland itinerary with included London–Nuuk flights, and a new Alaska itinerary.
Antarctica21 has opened its 2028–29 air-cruise season, its largest yet at 47 departures, all from Punta Arenas and skipping the Drake Passage by air.
Separately, HX says Asia is now its fourth-largest market, with Japan up 2x in three years and Asian passenger numbers up 50% in two years. HX holds roughly 10% of the Antarctica market, which has 47 operators. If Asian demand keeps rising, popular departures could tighten, which is a reason to book peak Antarctica dates early.
Explora Journeys reshuffles its North American leadership
Explora Journeys has named Lara Koslow, a BCG senior partner, president for North America. She starts Nov 30 to run sales and marketing. Chris Austin, who has been Explora's trade lead, takes a new role as head of Luxury Travel Partnerships. It covers distribution channels and partnerships, including expanding distribution for MSC Yacht Club.
Advisors should expect changes to trade strategy, channels and possibly commission or partner programs. Explora operates three ships, with three more on order (two due in 2027) and a river product planned.
Seabourn's 2029 summer program returns to Egypt
Seabourn has released its 2029 summer program, with 166 sailings. Ovation, Quest and Encore will sail the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska and New England. The line returns to Egypt after more than five years, with an overnight in Alexandria. Other additions are a new 7-day Gulf of Bothnia voyage with maiden calls, and Expedition Team voyages in Alaska.
Seabourn is selling about three years out, so advisors can start early-bird conversations with repeat clients.
Atlas details two-bedroom Owner's Suites on Atlas Adventurer
Atlas Ocean Voyages has revealed the Owner's Suites on Atlas Adventurer, a luxury expedition sailing yacht due late 2028. There are only two suites of about 1,365 sq ft, each sleeping four. They have butler service, premium spirits and wine included, and a wraparound balcony.
They are Reserve Collection inventory. This is a design reveal rather than an on-sale announcement, but advisors with top-tier or multigenerational clients should watch for early allocation and pre-launch booking windows.
Peter Hillary joins two National Geographic-Lindblad sailings
Mountaineer Peter Hillary will join National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions in Alaska in May 2027 and in Antarctica in December 2027. The Antarctica voyage includes Antarctica Direct: Sail and Fly the Drake. A named expedition personality tied to specific sailings gives advisors a selling point and a reason to prompt clients to book those departures.
Lindblad's chairman sells about $8.6M of stock under a pre-set plan
Sven-Olof Lindblad sold 240,989 shares at $34.50–$36.49 between Oct 20 and 22, under a 10b5-1 plan adopted June 17. He still holds about 10.28M shares. Because the sales are pre-scheduled, they say little about company performance.
The stock is near its 52-week high of $36.97 (low $11.37), with a market cap of about $2.3B. That shows how strongly investors have re-rated the expedition segment, which may help in conversations about supplier stability.
Industry orderbook reaches $94.6B, stretching 12 years
Seatrade puts the cruise orderbook at $94.6B, covering 81 vessels and 221,752 lower berths, with deliveries running 12 years out. It indicates how much new tonnage is coming. The source does not break out luxury or expedition tonnage, so treat it as general context for new-ship availability and pricing.
