Kempinski loses its CEO and six senior executives as shareholders explore a sale
Kempinski CEO Barbara Muckermann and six senior executives have reportedly left, with the CFO and the development, brand and commercial chiefs among them. The exits come as the Bahraini shareholders look for a buyer. The sale of the Berlin Adlon has also reportedly stalled.
For advisors, the commercial question is continuity. Kempinski is a luxury brand many advisors book regularly, and ownership and strategy are now uncertain. Watch for changes to distribution, commission and partner programs, and to the pipeline of more than 20 properties. Nothing in the reports points to a change in existing bookings, so there is no reason to move clients today. Confirm commission terms on any new Kempinski reservation until a buyer or new leadership is named.
Hilton signs a Nordic franchise framework with Scandic, starting at Copenhagen Airport
Hilton has signed a capital-light, multi-year franchise framework with Scandic covering Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, a region where Hilton has had little presence. The first project is a 284-room Hilton Hotels & Resorts at Copenhagen Airport, due to open in 2029.
No other hotels have been named, so this is a long-dated pipeline signal and not near-term inventory. The commercial point is Hilton Honors: the deal gives members a path to earning and redeeming across the Nordics for the first time at scale. Advisors have nothing to book yet, but Hilton will likely have more Nordic announcements to come.
Aman, Rosewood and Mandarin Oriental all have Seoul projects in the pipeline
Several ultra-luxury brands are lining up for Seoul. Aman Seoul, in Cheongdam, will be the brand's first hotel in Korea. Rosewood Seoul is targeted for 2027, and Mandarin Oriental Seoul, at 128 keys, for 2030.
Rosewood is the nearest bookable date, so it is the one advisors selling Korea should track first. Aman and Mandarin Oriental are further out and should be treated as pipeline. Together they add high-end inventory to a gateway market where luxury choice has been thin.
GHA signs Far East Hospitality's five brands and 26 hotels to GHA Discovery
GHA has signed Far East Hospitality's five brands and 26 hotels to its GHA Discovery loyalty program, effective from early 2027. The hotels are in Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.
That gives advisors more independent-chain inventory with loyalty earn and burn in key Asian gateways. It also reflects the push by independent groups such as GHA to compete with Marriott and Hilton on loyalty, a theme GHA's CEO discussed at the Skift Global Forum. Check how the new hotels appear in booking channels once they go live in 2027.
Mandarin Oriental Boca Raton: hotel in bankruptcy, condo tower faces $418M foreclosure
The planned 164-room Mandarin Oriental at Via Mizner in Boca Raton is nearly a decade past its original 2017 opening date. The hotel is in bankruptcy, and the condo tower faces a $418M foreclosure. Buyers are seeking seven-figure refunds on units in the roughly $1B development.
Advisors should not expect or promise a Mandarin Oriental Boca Raton opening to clients. The case also shows the risk in branded-residence projects, where the brand name can be attached long before a building is delivered.
Pan Pacific and Anantara extend their Asian pipelines
Pan Pacific Hotels Group plans 10 Version 2.0 projects for 2027. More than half its portfolio has been new-built or renovated since 2020. The 2027 Southeast Asia list includes Pan Pacific Phnom Penh, PARKROYAL Siem Reap, Siam Pan Pacific Bangkok and several serviced-suite conversions.
Separately, Minor Hotels will bring Anantara Retreats to India with a 70-key property in the Darjeeling Hills, on a working tea estate. It is due to open in 2031. It would add wellness, small-MICE and destination-wedding inventory and shows Minor's push into India, but it is far out.
For advisors, Pan Pacific offers new and refreshed Southeast Asia inventory sooner. Anantara Darjeeling is a long-range signal only.
Marriott Escapes and IHG points sales offer short-window discounts
Marriott is running 20% off Escapes for stays October 30 to November 15, in select countries across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The booking deadline is Sunday, October 25. Advisors with flexible clients can use it, but should check whether the rate is commissionable.
IHG One Rewards has a 100% bonus points sale running through November 5, with an increased purchase limit of up to 200,000 points a year. It is the ninth buy-points sale of 2026, so it is a recurring promotion and not a policy change. It lowers effective costs for clients who redeem points for hotel stays.
