Flydubai cancels Tel Aviv flights through October as Gulf routings close
Flydubai has extended its Tel Aviv cancellations through the end of October. Advisors with clients routed via Dubai, or building Israel and Gulf combinations, should rebook now.
The UAE revoked landing rights for Arkia, Israir and El Al on Oct 7, and security talks have stalled, so there is no near-term sign of resumption. Etihad via Abu Dhabi is carrying returning Israelis. Arkia is refunding its cancelled Dubai tickets.
Check every itinerary with a Dubai connection or a Dubai stopover, and confirm refund or rebooking terms in writing.
Israel extends Home Front emergency to Nov 3 amid Iran and Hezbollah fears
The government approved extending the Home Front emergency to Nov 3. The Knesset committee still has to approve it. Israel is on alert through the Oct 27 election.
Reports say Iran told Hezbollah to raise its military readiness, and the US is weighing new strike options on Iran. These are reports, not confirmed developments.
Advisors with Israel-bound clients travelling in late October or November should review insurance terms and cancellation and rebooking flexibility, and watch for airline waivers.
cRc updates airline kosher meal guide: 12 symbols acceptable, 6 not recommended
The cRc has updated its airline kosher meal hashgacha guide. It lists 12 acceptable symbols and 6 not recommended. The not-recommended list includes Consistoire de Paris, the Israeli Harabanut Lekashrut Artzit and Japan Kosher Service.
The status applies to airline meals only. Clients flying carriers that use those caterers may want a different carrier or to bring their own food. The guide excludes Lubavitch standards, so those clients should consult their Rov.
Advisors can use it to screen meal certifications when booking.
Dublin hotel cancels 70+ rooms for Jewish antisemitism conference
The Herbert Park Hotel in Dublin cancelled a block of more than 70 rooms for a SECCA delegation after asking whether the IDF would be involved. It is a concrete case of a supplier cancelling a Jewish group.
Advisors booking Jewish groups or visibly observant clients into Ireland should expect possible friction. Confirm the group's purpose and the hotel's policies up front, and get written confirmations. Ireland's government is also sharply critical of Israel.
Casa Myriam brings kosher dairy Italian dining to Juan-les-Pins
Casa Myriam, a fully kosher dairy Italian restaurant, has opened in Juan-les-Pins on the French Riviera. It is under the Rabbinat d'Antibes.
Year-round sit-down kosher dining between Nice and Cannes has been limited. The restaurant is near the beach and the train station and welcomes families and groups. It is useful for Riviera itineraries and summer family packages, and clients no longer need to drive into Nice for a sit-down meal.
Israel and Albania sign aviation deal as Israeli visitors pass 100,000
Israel and Albania have signed an aviation agreement. Israeli tourism to Albania grew from about 7,000 in 2023 to more than 100,000 in 2026, and the deal should add flight capacity.
Tirana has Chabad kosher dining at the BESA Center, with reservations required, and Shabbat meals. Albania is an emerging, lower-cost Balkan option for Israeli and frum clients and a possible Pesach or summer program location. The commercial detail is still early.
Air Haifa starts Ben Gurion–Eilat flights Oct 25 from NIS 79
Air Haifa begins Ben Gurion to Eilat flights on Oct 25. Fares start at about NIS 79, against NIS 170–300 on the route's existing carriers, Israir and Arkia. The extra competition could lower domestic Eilat fares.
Baggage is extra, and the lowest fare is limited by seat availability. Advisors pricing Israel land packages should compare the options.
Smaller items: Belarus detention, Plaza closure, Piccolino closing
Belarus: An Israeli traveler was jailed for two months on drug-trafficking charges after bringing undeclared prescription medication to his parents in Minsk. Advise clients visiting Belarus, Russia and similar jurisdictions to declare medications, check local rules and carry documentation and insurance. Israel's consular help in criminal cases is limited.
New York: The Plaza Hotel closes for at least four years from January 2027. Its 282 rooms, Palm Court and event spaces will be unavailable. Rebook 2027 stays and simchas, and expect tighter Manhattan luxury inventory.
Jerusalem: Piccolino, a 35-year Mehadrin dairy Italian restaurant on Music Square under the Jerusalem Rabbinate, closes at the end of October. Remove it from itineraries and recommendation lists.
