Isaias forecast to hit the northern Gulf Coast as a major hurricane Friday
The National Hurricane Center expects Tropical Storm Isaias to strengthen rapidly to about 95 kt by Oct 9. It is forecast to pass north of the Yucatan on Thursday and reach the Florida Panhandle and Louisiana coast on Friday. Hurricane watches are expected today.
Gulf homeports (Galveston, New Orleans, Tampa, Mobile) and western Caribbean calls such as Cozumel and Costa Maya face likely reroutes, port closures and embarkation disruption this week. Track confidence is below average, so the forecast could still shift.
Advisors with clients sailing Oct 8–12 should check line advisories now.
Royal Caribbean adds two Hero of the Seas sailings ahead of the Aug 11, 2027 debut
Royal Caribbean added a 7-night sailing on Aug 1 and a 3-night CocoCay sailing on Aug 8, 2027, both from Miami. They move the ship's passenger debut up 10 days from the Aug 11 maiden voyage. Stateroom booking opens this afternoon, Oct 7.
Change fees are waived until Oct 14 for guests booked on the Aug 11 sailing, and suites are held until then. Advisors with clients on the original inaugural should contact them now.
The move follows the early-sailing pattern set by Icon and Star, and it opens new-ship inventory to sell.
Carnival Spirit repair delay cancels Cabo call on Seattle–Mobile repositioning
An unscheduled repair stop in Honolulu pushes Carnival Spirit's Oct 8 embarkation to Oct 9. The next sailing becomes a 15-night cruise, loses its Cabo San Lucas call and keeps the Oct 19 Panama Canal transit.
Guests receive a pro-rated refund and a refund for prepaid Cabo excursions. Advisors with clients on this sailing, or on the one currently underway, should notify them and set expectations on compensation this week.
Carnival Corp. swaps ships: Arcadia to Holland America, Queen Anne to P&O in 2029
Arcadia moves to Holland America Line in 2029. HAL grows to 12 ships with a Vista-class vessel that adds more than 2,000 berths. Cunard's Queen Anne moves to P&O Cruises, replacing Arcadia, after the 2028/29 World Cruise, and gets a redesign.
The shuffle affects future inventory, Evolution refit timing and Cunard's product positioning. Advisors who sell HAL or Cunard should expect deployment announcements in the coming months.
Carnival tightens Minor Guest Policy for 18–20 year-olds
For bookings made on or after Oct 1, 2026, guests aged 15–20 must be within three staterooms of the responsible adult. Previously, 18–20s had no location restriction. Group chaperone ratios tighten from 1:8 to 1:5.
Advisors booking college, spring-break, youth and family groups must adjust cabin assignments and chaperone counts to comply.
Galveston advances talks with Royal Caribbean on a fifth cruise terminal
Port trustees want discussions with Royal Caribbean to continue without delay. A fifth terminal would add Gulf capacity for larger ships and more homeport sailings from Texas.
Galveston is a key drive-to market, so this points to more Royal Caribbean inventory there. Carnival and Disney are also growing in the port. The deal is not yet final.
Labadee return remains uncertain amid Haiti crisis
Royal Caribbean says a return to Labadee remains uncertain. Caribbean itineraries that previously included the port will keep substituting other calls.
Advisors should set client expectations on port substitutions and can point to private-destination alternatives such as Perfect Day CocoCay. The update brings no concrete change.
