Advisors get the edge: agent-first pricing, trade backing and a premium expedition surge, with Nepal as the caution

Intrepid's advisor-only family discount and G Adventures' UK trade push show suppliers courting agents, while HX Expeditions reports record Arctic suite demand. In Nepal, flood damage and a deadly Himlung avalanche mean autumn clients need checking.

Intrepid adds 20% off child pricing, advisor-only

Intrepid is stacking an extra 20% off child pricing on top of the 20% already built into its Family trips. The offer is available only through travel advisors, which gives agents a price edge over direct booking.

It applies to 2027 family departures between Jan 1 and Dec 17, excluding Malaysia. That makes it a useful tool for closing family business during the October booking window.

One caution: the source text says bookings run through 'October 2027', which looks like a typo for October 2026. Confirm the actual booking deadline with Intrepid before quoting it to clients.

G Adventures leans on UK agents as GX heads to Cambodia, then Brazil

G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip called UK agents a 'bright spot' and said the company works with the UK trade more than with any other country. He said bookings recovered from June after a 'devastating' March–May. Geluxe, Solo-ish and National Geographic Signature are its most successful lines.

The GX summit also brought news of Bazaar, a micro-community tourism platform, and Judy Kepher Gona as global ambassador. Brazil will host GX 2027.

G Adventures moved this year's GX from Morocco to Cambodia, where visitors are down 44% year on year. It cites Jordan's 134% rise in visitors after last year's GX as the model. Advisors can expect continued agent-support investment, and likely more marketing behind Cambodia and Brazil.

Nepal autumn: Rasuwa flood damage, Himlung avalanche and Gulf flight disruption

The UK FCDO advisory says the 26 August floods severely damaged roads and infrastructure in Rasuwa and along the Nepal-China border. Gorkha, Nuwakot and Dhading were also hit, and further landslides are possible. Middle East airspace disruption is affecting connections, and Nepal is offering free visa extensions at the airport to affected travellers.

Separately, an avalanche at Himlung base camp killed 14 kitchen staff and two guides, most of them working for Himalayan Holidays Trek & Expeditions. Only one team, with six foreign members, now appears on the permit list.

Advisors with autumn clients on Langtang, Rasuwa or Himlung itineraries, or routing via the Gulf, should check with operators on route access, flights and insurance cover.

HX reports record suite bookings after 31-sailing Arctic season

HX Expeditions had its highest-ever suite bookings this Arctic season, across 31 sailings, with a 4.7/5 Tripadvisor average. That points to strong demand for premium expedition cruising. Advisors should expect tighter premium-cabin availability and firm pricing on 2027 Svalbard and Arctic departures.

The season also included a citizen-science programme with 26,491 submissions and a world-first AI whale-detection trial on MS Fram. Both give advisors sustainability talking points with eco-minded clients.

The figures come from the operator's own release.
