Bigger players are moving in on the high end, and travelers are staying longer and stringing more stops together

Kensington Tours has launched an ultra-luxury division that opens with a roughly $70K Indonesia itinerary, and Banyan Group has taken a 70% stake in South Africa's Newmark Hotels & Reserves. Trip.com's Golden Week data shows the demand side: longer stays and multi-stop trips that reach late September.

Kensington Tours' Ultraluxe division prices Indonesia at about $70K per person

Kensington Tours has launched a dedicated ultra-luxury division that bundles villas, expeditions and yacht charters. That puts a large tour operator in direct competition with advisors for the same high-net-worth clients.

The launch product is the Indonesia Odyssey: nine days, about $70K per person excluding air. It combines Mandapa, a private phinisi through the Lesser Sundas, and Nihi Sumba. That gives advisors a price and structure benchmark for Indonesia.

What to do: Check phinisi and Nihi Sumba availability for your own Indonesia clients. Decide whether you can match this depth of curation, and whether your pricing stands up against a packaged, branded alternative.

Golden Week data points to longer, multi-stop trips and earlier demand peaks

Trip.com reports that Chinese Golden Week travel is shifting toward longer, multi-stop journeys. Hotel stays of seven nights or more are up 123% year on year, and multi-destination bookings are up 84%. Long-haul demand is running to Europe, Australia and the US.

The break is 13 days and starts Sept 25, four days from now, so peaks arrive earlier than usual. Advisors with Chinese-market clients, or Asia and Europe inbound flows, should expect tighter late-September and early-October availability at gateway-city hotels. Popular pairings include Singapore–Bali, Hong Kong–Sydney and Amsterdam–Milan.

Caveat: This is OTA-wide data, not ultra-luxury data. Use it as a guide to timing and length of stay, not to premium-segment demand.

Banyan Group takes 70% of South Africa's Newmark Hotels & Reserves for ZAR756M

Banyan Tree Holdings is buying a 70% stake in Newmark Hotels & Reserves for ZAR756M, with the remainder to follow in phases. Newmark keeps its name, management and owner relationships, and joins Banyan as a collection brand.

The deal extends Banyan's footprint in Africa. It could eventually bring Newmark properties into Banyan's distribution and loyalty channels.

For advisors selling South Africa: Watch for changes to commission terms, rate structures and partner programs as integration proceeds. The HVS roundup gives no property list, so how much of Newmark is truly ultra-luxury is still to be checked. Confirm that before repositioning any client recommendations.
