Pricing Pressure Meets New Inventory: Airfares Climb, Gulf Cities Soften, Villa Portfolios Grow

Delta says customers absorbed roughly 20% fare increases with limited resistance, while Gulf city hotels cut rates 15–20% even as resorts hold firm. Meanwhile Mandarin Oriental's villa program, Explora's winter sailings and a 212-foot schooner add bookable product.

Delta Says Fare Hikes of About 20% Met 'Limited Resistance'

Delta expects to absorb a $6 billion increase in fuel costs and has lowered its 2026 profit outlook. Its CEO said customers have accepted fare increases of roughly 20% with limited resistance. Skift's separate analysis argues higher airfares are here to stay, even though airline profits are not expected to rise with them.

For advisors, air is the line item most likely to move a luxury quote. Reset budget conversations with air-inclusive clients now, and ticket early where fare rules allow. Premium-cabin pricing is unlikely to ease soon, so build the higher air cost into proposals rather than presenting it later as a surprise.

Gulf Recovery Splits: Resorts Hold Rates, UAE City Hotels Discount

Accor's Gulf recovery is running at two speeds. Leisure-led resorts, such as those in Ras Al Khaimah, are seeing rates ahead, while UAE city hotels have cut rates by 15–20%.

That gives advisors negotiating leverage and some value on Dubai and Abu Dhabi city stays. Resort-led itineraries are likely to hold their pricing. Be careful with stopovers and air corridors affected by the Iran war, and confirm routing before building Gulf connections into longer itineraries. Skift's Global Forum East will ask whether the Gulf's momentum can hold.

Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes Reaches 43 Villas Across 18 Destinations

Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes has added twelve villas in Croatia, Greece, Italy, Spain and Thailand, bringing the program to 43 villas in 18 destinations. The collection offers private-villa privacy with hotel-grade service, a direct alternative to Luxury Retreats-style portfolios for Mediterranean and Thai demand.

Advisors should confirm commission terms and booking channels before proposing the villas. They are worth evaluating for multigenerational and group clients who want villa space but expect hotel-level service.

Explora Journeys Debuts President's Journey; Atlantic Schooner Opens Charter Chapters

Explora Journeys has introduced its first President's Journey, a seven-night EXPLORA II sailing from Dec 9 to 16 hosted by President Anna Nash. It includes an overnight in Casablanca and an event at Royal Mansour. Explora is also adding 4–5 night winter Mediterranean sailings, which make the brand easier to sell to first-time clients.

At the far end of the market, the 212-foot classic schooner Atlantic is opening seven-day private charters on a five-year circumnavigation. Charters carry up to 12 guests and start around $170,000, with remote Pacific, Southeast Asia and Indian Ocean stops from early next year. Early chapter slots are likely to be limited.

Mpala Jena Private Villas Opens at Victoria Falls

Mpala Jena Private Villas has opened on the Zambezi, inside Zambezi National Park at the edge of Victoria Falls. The riverside villas add high-end Falls inventory to southern Africa safari itineraries, and the area is growing fast.

Advisors who pair Singita-style safaris with the Falls have a new product to evaluate. The source is editorial rather than commercial, so confirm rates, availability and trade terms directly with the property.

Trafalgar's 2027 Portfolio Live; Insight and Costsaver Fold In April 1

Trafalgar's expanded 2027 portfolio is now live in the advisor portal. Departures through March 31, 2027 still book as Insight Vacations or Costsaver. New saver and premium Trafalgar trips start April 1, 2027.

Advisors selling guided touring need to book under the correct brand by departure date. The portal also lets them compare the tiers. The upper-end relevance is moderate, but the change affects commissionable bookings.
