Whittier's new NCLH/Huna Totem dock declared a total loss after fire
The Alaska State Fire Marshal has declared the $80M Chugach Glacier Gateway dock at Whittier, built by NCLH and Huna Totem, a total loss after a fire. Ships are using Cruise Terminal 1, about 1.5 miles away, for now.
No 2026 or 2027 schedule changes have been announced, and Huna Totem says it aims to have the dock operational for 2027. That is a target, not a commitment.
For advisors: anyone selling 2027 Alaska cruisetours or Norwegian Alaska sailings that touch Whittier should watch for changes to the terminal, transfers and itineraries. Avoid promising specific transfer times or terminal details on 2027 bookings until the operators confirm the plan.

Oasis of the Seas turns around late; Port Canaveral cancelled, compensation tiered
Two medical evacuations delayed Oasis of the Seas' return to Cape Liberty by about 8 hours. The Sept 20 sailing therefore embarks late. Royal Caribbean has cancelled the Port Canaveral call and is refunding Orlando tours as onboard credit.
Compensation is tiered by cabin category:
- $100 OBC: interior and oceanview
- $150 OBC: balcony and Neighborhood
- $200 OBC: suites
- $50 extra: per third and fourth guest
Air change fees paid independently are reimbursed up to $200 per person domestic and $400 per person international.
For advisors: contact clients on this sailing and the current one about flights, parking and arrival timing. Point them to the air-change reimbursement and have them keep receipts.
Silver Moon held in Tokyo for Typhoon Dujuan; Hiroshima cancelled
Silversea's Silver Moon is staying in Tokyo while Typhoon Dujuan approaches. Departure has moved from Sept 19 to Sept 21.
Hiroshima is cancelled, and Osaka and Kochi have been re-timed. Tours in Hiroshima and Osaka are cancelled. No compensation has been announced.
The impact is limited to one luxury sailing, but typhoon risk applies to other Japan-region itineraries. For advisors: check any Japan clients for similar substitutions or re-timings. Ask the line early about compensation, since none has been offered here so far.
Nearly every major line has left the Red Sea; only Aroya still transits Suez
MSC, NCL, AIDA, Costa, TUI, Celestyal and Explora have cancelled sailings or dropped Middle East seasons, with no return dates set. Aroya is the only line still sailing the region.
For advisors: if you are quoting 2026/27 winter Middle East, Suez or repositioning itineraries, expect further cancellations and Cape of Good Hope reroutes. Explain the line's itinerary-change and refund policies to clients before they book, and check current deployments before proposing these routings.

Disney Believe's first gigablock floats out at Meyer Werft
The first gigablock of Disney's Believe has floated out at Meyer Werft. It is the midship section, including the Grand Hall, with a Moana statue and Polynesian theming. Delivery is set for 2027.
Disney has not yet announced a delivery date, homeport or itineraries. Advisors can start fielding 2027 interest, but nothing is bookable. This is a sign of construction progress, not a change to inventory.
