Explora Journeys took delivery of EXPLORA III in Genoa, the line's first LNG-powered vessel, ahead of an Aug. 1 naming in Barcelona and an Aug. 3 maiden voyage; the ship opens inaugural Northern Europe, Iceland and Greenland sailings before Explora's first-ever Alaska season in 2027. Lindblad's National Geographic Sea Bird has now filed four CDC gastrointestinal illness reports in two months — the most recent notably including "paused passenger operations," a step beyond the sanitation-protocol response seen in the prior three incidents. The small expedition ship is also running behind its Inside Passage schedule as a result. This isn't a one-off report; it's a repeated pattern on a single vessel, which is the detail worth relaying to clients booked on upcoming Sea Bird departures. Expect continued enhanced sanitation protocols and possible schedule slippage on near-term sailings until Lindblad breaks the cycle. Disney Cruise Line has signed a 15-year preferred-access agreement with Huna Totem Corp at Icy Strait Point, Alaska, guaranteeing Disney one preferred weekly dock slot and a minimum annual passenger count through at least 2041. That kind of long-term berth guarantee is a real differentiator against lines that negotiate port access season to season, and it removes a source of itinerary uncertainty for Disney Magic and Wonder Alaska sailings. Advisors can sell Disney's Alaska product on long-term itinerary stability at a port that's grown increasingly popular and congested, without the call-in-jeopardy caveats that apply to competing lines with less secure access there.
