Utopia of the Seas trades the Bahamas for Cozumel hours before sailing
Royal Caribbean rerouted the 4-night Utopia of the Seas sailing from Port Canaveral that departs Oct 26. Gale-force winds and king tides in the Bahamas led to a new plan of two sea days plus Cozumel, in place of Nassau and CocoCay.
Shore excursions booked for the dropped ports are refunded automatically to SeaPass accounts. Other Bahamas sailings could see similar swaps through about Oct 28, so advisors with clients aboard or departing soon should check in early. Clients may ask about compensation for the lost ports. Setting expectations now, and knowing what the cruise line has actually offered, will save a harder conversation later.
Storms and French strikes cut ports for MSC Virtuosa and P&O Ventura
Storm Austen and Storm Boelo delayed MSC Virtuosa's departure from Southampton by a day. They also delayed P&O Ventura's arrival there by 24 hours. Strikes and unrest in France cancelled calls at La Rochelle, Le Havre and Cherbourg.
Ventura guests are being offered only a prorated future cruise credit, not cash. Protests also turned violent in several Italian cities on Oct 24, including Naples, and Royal Caribbean warned Odyssey of the Seas guests about the situation there.
Advisors with Northern Europe or Western Mediterranean clients this week should expect further French port cancellations. They should also prepare clients for compensation that comes as credit rather than refunds.
Mein Schiff 3 collides with a container ship in Bremerhaven
High winds pushed TUI Cruises' Mein Schiff 3 into a docked container ship in Bremerhaven. The ship had 2,428 guests aboard. Its lifeboats were severely damaged, and the ship remains in port while the damage is assessed.
That makes cancelling or shortening the 20-night Western Europe and Canary Islands sailing likely. Mein Schiff is mainly a German-market brand, so exposure for North American advisors is limited. Anyone with clients on this sailing or the ones that follow should watch for itinerary and refund notices from the line.
Carnival adds adults-only cruises with $99 deposits through Nov 9
Carnival is promoting new adults-only (21+) sailings from Los Angeles, Miami, Tampa, Galveston and New York. They run between November 2026 and August 2027 and are bookable under rate code PJY.
Deposits are $99 per person if booked by Nov 9, and inventory is limited. Past cruisers are also seeing offers such as free balcony upgrades, drink packages and onboard credit.
The deadline and low deposit give advisors a clean reason to contact adults-only and casino-focused clients now.
NCLH extends Seaware reservations to Oceania and Regent
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is extending the Versonix Seaware reservation platform to Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas. Norwegian Cruise Line will move to the platform's latest generation.
That points to a shared back end across NCLH brands. It could eventually change how advisors book, make changes and get commission data. The source gives no timeline or details, so there is nothing to act on yet. Advisors who book these brands should watch for migration notices and possible booking disruptions.
