Cruise Cash Lands at Sandals — Watch Commissions and Group Terms
Royal Caribbean is acquiring a 50% equity stake in Sandals Resorts International — the parent of Sandals and Beaches, the Caribbean's dominant all-inclusive destination-wedding brand — in a deal valued at roughly $3 billion. The transaction is expected to close in early 2027, giving a cruise major direct ownership of the land-based resort chain that books more destination weddings than almost any other in the region.
For advisors, the deal itself changes nothing on day one — Sandals' booking engine, wedding packages, and group-block terms run as before. But a capital infusion of this size at a company built on wedding and honeymoon volume warrants close watching over the next year: possible shifts to travel-agent commission structures, group and room-block concessions for wedding parties, and cross-promotional bundling with Royal Caribbean cruises are all plausible outcomes once integration planning begins. Nothing is confirmed yet, and Sandals has not detailed operational changes.
