A Bay of Bengal cyclone has pushed most operators, including Elite Exped, to evacuate Manaslu and Dhaulagiri base camps and cancel remaining expeditions, with days of heavy snow and avalanche risk still forecast. The storm effectively ends Nepal's fall 8,000m season early. For advisors, this is an active situation, not a forecast: clients on Manaslu or Dhaulagiri climbs should be contacted now about evacuation logistics, rebooking, and insurance claims. It's also a prompt to check any other late-season Himalayan departures still on the books — trekking as well as climbing — since the same weather system carries risk beyond the two peaks already affected. Operators are likely to be flexible on rebooking into spring given the scale of the disruption, but advisors who get ahead of client communication now will have an easier time managing expectations than those waiting on cancellation notices to trickle in.

At its GX Summit in Phnom Penh (Sept 23–28), G Adventures confirmed it's moving beyond its roughly 30 multi-country Southeast Asia itineraries to build dedicated single-country Cambodia trips, alongside deeper Planeterra community-tourism partnerships. The push lands as Cambodia's international arrivals have fallen 44.4% this year amid the Thai border crisis — a slump that's hitting the destination's tourism economy hard but also means lighter crowds at Angkor and beyond. For advisors, that's a pitch: new bookable product from a trusted small-group operator, in a moment when demand softness likely means better value and availability than a typical year. G Adventures is framing the move partly as a vote of confidence in a market that needs the business, which gives advisors a values-forward angle for clients who want their trip to matter locally, not just look good on paper.

The Adventure Travel Trade Association has confirmed its Adventure Travel World Summit will land in Almería, in Andalucía, Spain, October 4–7, 2027, with early-bird registration open through December 31, 2026. It's a year out, but the deadline is real: advisors, DMCs, and operator partners who plan to attend or send staff get the lowest registration tier by booking before the year turns. The choice of Andalucía — an undertouristed, conservation-forward region rather than a marquee capital — is also a signal of where ATTA's supplier network and marketing dollars are likely to concentrate over the next two years, worth noting for advisors building relationships with European adventure and sustainability-focused suppliers.
