Two Luxury Flagships Reset the Board: Dubai Reopens, Kyoto Gets a New Claim

St. Regis Dubai, The Palm comes back online Nov. 1 after a six-month refurbishment just as Dubai's peak season ramps up, while Shangri-La stakes out a heritage site near Kyoto's Nijo Castle for its next ultra-luxury build. Both moves reward advisors who lock in relationships and allocation early — one for near-term rebooking, one for a market that stays supply-constrained for years.

St. Regis Dubai, The Palm Confirms Nov. 1 Return

The 290-key Marriott Bonvoy flagship on Palm Jumeirah reopens Nov. 1 after a full renovation that took it off-sale since April 12 — a six-month closure timed to land just before Dubai's peak winter booking window. The refreshed property leans on its dining program as the headline selling point, including what's billed as the world's only three-Michelin-star Indian restaurant, alongside a rebuilt rooftop lineup.

For advisors, the practical task is immediate: any provisional or waitlisted bookings for November, December, or January need rate and inventory confirmation now, before peak-season demand absorbs the newly reopened allocation. This is a rare case where a renovation reopening lines up almost exactly with the season that matters most for the destination, so the window to secure preferred room categories is short.

Shangri-La Stakes a Claim Near Nijo Castle

Shangri-La is converting a historically significant site near Kyoto's Nijo Castle into its next ultra-luxury flagship, adding brand-name high-end inventory to a market where affluent-client bookings routinely run into allocation limits. Kyoto's luxury supply has lagged demand for years, and heritage-adjacent sites like this one are scarce, which is part of why a major chain committing to the location is notable beyond the usual opening announcement.

There's no opening date yet, so there's nothing to sell today. But Kyoto allocation is won well before doors open, through early relationship-building with the property and brand contacts. Advisors with Japan-focused luxury clients — particularly those already fielding Kyoto requests they can't currently fill — should flag this one to watch rather than file it away.

ALL-Accor's 30% NAB Conversion Bonus Ends Sept. 30

Accor is running a 30% bonus on ALL-Accor point conversions from NAB Rewards through Sept. 30 — a two-and-a-half-week window from today for eligible NAB cardholders to boost the value of points earmarked for Accor stays before redeeming. It's a narrow promotion: single bank, single market (Australia), and irrelevant to clients outside that program.

For advisors with an Australian client base who track loyalty mechanics, it's worth a quick mention to anyone sitting on a NAB Rewards balance and planning an Accor stay — the uplift is meaningful if they were converting anyway, but it isn't a reason to manufacture a conversion that wouldn't otherwise happen. Confirm with clients that the conversion posts before the Sept. 30 cutoff.
