One New Upsell, One New Safety Net for Wedding Air

RIU adds a bookable VIP room tier at its Palace properties across the Caribbean and Mexico, giving advisors a fresh upsell for wedding parties and honeymooners. Meanwhile Frontier's new Cancel for Any Reason fare protection offers guests a late-stage out on non-refundable flights to those same events.

RIU's Elite Club Gives Wedding Parties a Bookable Upgrade Path

RIU has rolled out Elite Club, a new VIP room category at its RIU Palace properties in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Aruba and Costa Rica. The tier bundles priority check-in and late checkout, guaranteed beachfront room assignment, access to an exclusive à la carte restaurant without the usual reservation scramble, and upgraded in-room amenities — all layered onto the existing all-inclusive rate rather than requiring a separate contract or venue negotiation.

For advisors, this is a concrete, sellable differentiator inside a brand already popular for group wedding blocks: a way to upsell the couple or select guests into a materially better stay without restructuring the whole booking. It's a straightforward attach-rate play — higher per-room revenue and a cleaner pitch for guests who want to stand out from the rest of the room block without switching resorts.

  • Perks: priority check-in/late checkout, beachfront room assignment, exclusive à la carte dining, premium in-room amenities
  • Available at RIU Palace properties in Mexico, DR, Jamaica, Aruba and Costa Rica
  • Sits within the standard all-inclusive rate structure — no separate contract needed

Frontier's Cancel-for-Any-Reason Fare Eases Late Wedding-Travel Jitters

Frontier has introduced Cancel for Any Reason protection, a fare add-on that allows refunds up to 24 hours before departure — notably more generous than the standard change-fee or credit-only policies most carriers offer. For guests booking flights into a destination wedding, that late-stage flexibility addresses a real anxiety point: the fear of forfeiting a non-refundable flight if travel plans fall through close to the date.

It's not a wedding-specific product, but it gives advisors a useful line when quoting air for wedding parties and guests who are nervous about locking in flights months ahead of an event that could still shift. Worth flagging alongside travel protection conversations, particularly for larger guest lists where a few travelers are always on the fence until the last minute.
