Viking's Fleet Build-Out and Travelmarvel's Comeback Signal a Nile Capacity Race
Egypt logged 19 million international visitors in 2025, up 21% year-on-year, and two operators are responding with real capacity rather than just marketing. Viking is expanding its Nile fleet to 12 vessels by 2027, a build-out advisors should read as more available inventory and, likely, more competitive pricing and commission offers as the line races to capture demand that now rivals European river routes for client interest.
At the same time, APT's Travelmarvel is re-entering the Nile after more than ten years away, sailing the fully rebuilt Travelmarvel Sirius (124 guests) on a 7-night Luxor–Aswan itinerary bundled into longer Cairo-based trips. The line is already taking bookings into 2028 and reports strong early uptake from both existing Travelmarvel clients and European-river veterans looking for a new region. Together the two moves give advisors a wider spread of Nile product — value-tier and premium — to sell into a destination that's clearly heating up.
