More Seats, More Snacks, More Bagels: Kosher Travel Infrastructure Widens on Three Fronts

Israir's DOT clearance pushes the NYC–Tel Aviv route toward six-carrier competition, Hermolis sandwiches finally reach London's budget-carrier airports, and Bagel Boss stakes a new claim in Boynton Beach's expanding kosher corridor. Three unrelated stories, one throughline: the infrastructure kosher travelers rely on — flights, airport food, neighborhood dining — keeps getting denser.

Israir clears DOT for JFK–Tel Aviv, setting up six-carrier competition

Israir has cleared the U.S. Department of Transportation and can now sell tickets on its planned JFK–Tel Aviv service, targeting an Oct. 19 launch pending final FAA sign-off. That puts a sixth carrier in play on the route: El Al and Arkia are already flying, Delta returns Sept. 7, and United adds two daily Newark departures Sept. 8. Israir's entry brings a genuine 1-2-1 lie-flat business cabin — a real upgrade option beyond El Al's default premium pricing. For advisors, this is a green light to start conversations now, even though Israir tickets aren't bookable yet: flag the new business product to premium travelers, remind clients they now have real carrier choice, and use the added capacity to build cushion into Sukkot and Pesach-season bookings, when seats on this corridor typically sell out first.

  • El Al & Arkia: flying now
  • Delta: resumes Sept. 7
  • United: adds 2 daily Newark flights Sept. 8
  • Israir: sales open now, targeting Oct. 19 launch pending FAA approval

Kosher sandwiches finally reach London's budget-carrier airports

Hermolis' DD's kosher sandwiches are now stocked in Caffè Nero outlets at London Luton and Stansted, closing a long-standing gap for kosher-observant travelers on budget carriers who previously had to pack food or route through Heathrow. Both airports are key hubs for easyJet, Ryanair and Wizz Air service to Tel Aviv and across the Continent, making this a practical fix for advisors booking clients on low-cost itineraries with no prior grab-and-go kosher option pre-security. Update pre-trip advisories for any client transiting LTN or STN. It doesn't replace a full kosher restaurant, but it removes the need to carry food through security or add transfer time to reach Heathrow's kosher counters — worth flagging specifically to families and groups on tight connections or early departures.

Bagel Boss plants a flag in Boynton Beach's growing kosher corridor

Bagel Boss opens its newest South Florida location in Boynton Beach on Aug. 21, next to KC Market's 40,000-square-foot kosher supermarket. The opening adds another anchor to the fast-growing West Boynton kosher cluster, which keeps pushing west of Palm Beach County's traditional kosher core. For advisors booking Palm Beach County clients — snowbirds settling in for the season, families scouting Pesach-adjacent stays, or hosts planning simcha catering — this gives another dependable, nearby option to point clients toward. It's a modest opening on its own, but it's the latest data point in a pattern worth tracking: kosher retail in this corridor is expanding faster than in most other Florida markets, which should inform how advisors talk about neighborhood choice with extended-stay and relocating clients.

Three solid, bookable developments today — more air capacity and a new premium option on the Israel route, more kosher food at UK secondary airports, and continued kosher retail growth in South Florida.
