Fall Dates Firm Up in Orlando as Cruise Lines Court Advisors

Universal confirms Jurassic Park River Adventure's Nov. 20 return and Disney sets Sept. 14 for Hollywood Studios' new Animation Courtyard, while EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival opens Aug. 27 with several marketplaces still weeks from ready. On the cruise side, Royal Caribbean will re-home Icon of the Seas to Galveston in 2027 and Margaritaville at Sea launches a formal advisor training track.

Disney World's Fall Calendar Fills In

Disney World's fall touring picture just got sharper. Hollywood Studios will open Magic of Disney Animation in Animation Courtyard on September 14, closing out a years-long construction gap with a new large-scale, family-friendly indoor space — a genuine reason to reroute touring plans and sell fresh ground at a park that's felt static. Down the road, EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival opens August 27, but the full lineup won't be ready on day one: Festival Favorites arrives September 9, The Wedge September 18, and Coastal Eats not until October 2. Advisors booking multi-gen EPCOT visits for late August or early September should tell clients upfront that several marketplaces and menus are still weeks out, so expectations match what's actually open rather than the festival's eventual full spread.

Universal: One Reopening Date, One Caution Flag

Universal Orlando has a firm date to sell: Jurassic Park River Adventure reopens November 20 at Islands of Adventure after more than ten months closed, letting advisors lock fall and holiday itineraries around it — though visible construction still on site this close to the date is worth flagging to clients as a possible-slippage caveat. On the West Coast, early previews of Universal Studios Hollywood's new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster are surfacing a restraint-fit problem, with plus-size and tall riders turned away, including one 6'4" guest who waited three hours before being denied. Since a version of this coaster is slated to replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit in Orlando in 2027, advisors should start setting expectations now for larger or taller multi-gen travelers rather than waiting for the East Coast opening.

Cruise Lines Make Moves for Advisors

Two cruise lines relevant to family bookings made moves this week. Royal Caribbean confirmed it will relocate Icon of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, from Port Canaveral to Galveston in 2027 — a homeport shift that reorients easiest embarkation access toward Gulf Coast and central US drive-to families, while Star of the Seas stays on as the Florida-based Icon-class flagship. Advisors should start steering 2027 family cruise bookings by client region now rather than defaulting to Florida. Separately, Margaritaville at Sea rolled out a formal travel advisor training program, an explicit push for trade distribution on its budget-friendly, family-accessible ships. It's a low-lift credential worth completing for commission incentives and cleaner upsell positioning against larger family cruise lines.
