ATTA's Sustainability Report Shows Progress Slowing, Not Scaling
The Adventure Travel Trade Association's second annual Sustainability & Impact Report is candid about a plateau: per-delegate event emissions fell just 1.1% in 2025, down sharply from more than 10% the year before, and uptake of ATTA's own Membership Sustainability Commitment has been slower than the association expected. ATTA attributes part of the slowdown to expansion into harder-to-reach destinations, where lower-impact logistics are harder to arrange.
For advisors, the takeaway isn't that sustainability claims are false — it's that they aren't uniform. Green Key, B-Corp, and EarthCheck credentials reflect different scopes, geographies, and business models rather than a single checklist, and even the industry's own trade body is now flagging that gap publicly. Worth a closer read before repeating a supplier's sustainability pitch verbatim to clients who ask.

AI-Faked Wildlife Content Is Warping Client Expectations and Conservation Data
Two new studies — one in Conservation Biology, one in Nature Ecology and Evolution — document a problem advisors selling wildlife trips should take seriously. AI-generated 'cute animal' videos are racking up millions of views and normalizing a false sense of closeness between humans and wild animals, while AI-enhanced photos submitted to citizen-science platforms like iNaturalist are corrupting species-range data that researchers and, increasingly, marketers rely on.
The commercial angle: clients booking safaris, gorilla trekking, or whale-watching may arrive with expectations shaped by fabricated footage rather than what a real sighting looks like, and that gap can show up as disappointment on-trip. It's also a reason to be more careful citing citizen-science sighting data in marketing copy, since some of the underlying observations may no longer be reliable.
