Since July 1, every arrival to South Africa by air, land or sea must file an electronic traveller declaration, replacing the old paper form. SANParks will reopen Bontebok National Park in the Western Cape from August 1 following flood damage, bringing back six self-catering chalets, the campsite and three hiking trails. Still closed for refurbishment: the eight riverside chalets, the Die Stroom Picnic Site and the Bushbuck Trail. For advisors holding or quoting bookings here, this is a partial, not full, recovery — inventory is roughly halved for the foreseeable future, and the riverside units likely to be most requested are exactly the ones still out. Set client expectations accordingly and confirm which specific unit type is being booked rather than assuming general availability. No reopening date has been given for the remaining facilities, so treat Bontebok as a reduced-capacity option through at least the rest of this season.

Namibia's Ministry of Environment has translocated 575 springbok, gemsbok and zebra from Etosha National Park to communal conservancies in Kunene and Otjozondjupa. It doesn't mean Tanzania or Uganda add-ons disappear, but it does mean a well-built all-Kenya itinerary is now a stronger sell on its own terms rather than a fallback when a circuit doesn't pencil out logistically or financially.
