More Seats to Tel Aviv, More Kosher Food at the Gate

Israir's planned October JFK launch pushes NYC-TLV to a record six-carrier field just as Hermolis lands kosher sandwiches at London's Luton and Stansted airports — two signs that kosher travel infrastructure is catching up to demand. In Florida, a new Bagel Boss adds another dining anchor to Boynton Beach's Orthodox corridor.

NYC-TLV Corridor Heads Toward Six-Carrier Competition as Israir Eyes October Launch

Israir is targeting an Oct. 19 nonstop JFK–Tel Aviv launch pending FAA sign-off, which would bring the route to six carriers: El Al, Arkia, Delta (from Sept. 7), United (from Sept. 8), Israir, and American selling seats from March 2027. Unlike wet-leased entrants, Israir is flying its own A330s with a genuine lie-flat business cabin, and industry chatter points to fares undercutting El Al. For advisors, this is the first real competitive field on the route since the disruptions following Oct. 7, 2023 — more capacity, more schedule options, and likely softer business-class pricing for Israel-bound clients, including Pesach program travelers booking for spring. Worth flagging to clients who've been locked into El Al pricing by default: it may be time to re-shop the route once Israir's schedule loads into GDS systems.

  • Delta resumes Sept. 7, United Sept. 8, Israir targets Oct. 19 (pending FAA approval)
  • American begins selling NYC-TLV seats from March 2027, a sixth entrant
  • Israir flies owned A330s with lie-flat business, not a wet-lease operation

Kosher Sandwiches Land at London's Luton and Stansted Airports

Hermolis's DD's kosher sandwich line is now stocked in Caffè Nero outlets at both London Luton (landside) and Stansted (airside, near the gates), closing a gap at two of the UK's busiest low-cost hubs. Both airports carry heavy budget-carrier traffic to Tel Aviv and to European Jewish communities, and until now kosher travelers connecting or departing from either had to pack their own food. Advisors routing clients through Luton or Stansted — whether on easyJet/Wizz-style connections or wider European itineraries — can now note on-site kosher options rather than building in extra buffer time for offsite meal sourcing. It's a small but concrete change worth updating in standard pre-departure notes for UK-transiting clients, particularly families or groups on tighter connection windows who previously needed to carry meals through security.

Bagel Boss Opens in Boynton Beach's Growing Orthodox Corridor

A new Bagel Boss opens Friday, Aug. 21, in Boynton Beach, Florida, alongside the KC Market kosher supermarket — another dining anchor in the fast-growing West Boynton Orthodox community. For advisors booking South Florida stays tied to frum community relocation, extended family visits, or winter-season bookings, it's a useful addition to the reference list of walkable kosher dining near the area's main kosher grocery cluster. It doesn't shift the market the way the airline or airport news does, but it confirms Boynton Beach's continued build-out as a kosher dining and retail hub south of the more established Palm Beach and Boca corridors — worth keeping on the radar for clients asking about kosher infrastructure when evaluating the area for a longer stay or move.

A quiet news day on the kosher travel front, but a real one for advisors: the NYC-TLV fare picture is about to get more competitive, and two small infrastructure gaps — one at UK airports, one in South Florida — just closed. — The Kosher Travel Desk
