Tropical Storm Lala pushed Hawaii ports to Coast Guard Condition X-Ray/Whiskey this week, prompting Norwegian Cruise Line to cut Pride of America's Kauai call short and push her Aug. 15 Honolulu turnaround back a full day; Norwegian Spirit dropped its Hilo and Kona calls outright. Advisors with clients on the Aug. 15-16 embarkations should expect the same disruption on the next cycle and get ahead of arrival-day questions now. Across the Pacific, Typhoon Dolphin delayed Spectrum of the Seas' Shanghai departure three days and swapped Nagoya, Tokyo and Kobe for Jeju and Nagasaki. Royal Caribbean's compensation there - up to $1,100 onboard credit per cabin, a matching future cruise credit, and up to $222 per person in incident-insurance reimbursement - is a useful benchmark to cite the next time a client's Asia sailing runs into weather.

Mexico's per-person tourism fee doubled from $5 to $10 on Aug. 1 at Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta and Costa Maya - and it isn't done. The fee rises again to $15 in July 2027 and $21 in August 2028, already codified rather than proposed. Because these four ports anchor most Western Caribbean and Mexican Riviera itineraries, the increase touches nearly every mass-market cruise advisors sell in the region, typically passed through as a port-fee line rather than absorbed by the cruise line. Worth flagging to clients pricing multi-year bookings now: the fare locked in today won't reflect the $15 or $21 fee due by the time they sail in 2027 or 2028, so expect updated final invoices as those dates approach.

Guests booked into eligible U.S. FIT guarantee categories can now pay a non-refundable $30 flat fee to lock in their cabin assignment 25 to 85 days before sailing, instead of waiting for Royal Caribbean to assign it closer to departure. It's a small but new ancillary line - and a natural upsell conversation for advisors booking guarantee cabins, since clients who want certainty over a lower guarantee rate now have a paid path to get it. Worth mentioning proactively rather than waiting for guests to ask why their assignment hasn't posted.

Seven Seas Splendor, Explorer and Grandeur will drop from 750 to 688 guests as Regent replaces smaller staterooms with 409-463 square foot suites featuring walk-in closets, during refits running December 2027 through November 2028. The trade is fewer cabins for a materially larger entry-level product - a repositioning that will change price-per-suite comparisons across the Explorer class for years. Luxury advisors selling these ships that far out should start framing the refit timeline now, since inventory and pricing will shift as each ship comes out of dry dock.

Celebrity is sending eight ships to Europe for 2028 - four Edge-class vessels alongside four classic-class ships - its biggest regional deployment yet, with new calls at Galway and returns to Bari and Alexandria. Public booking opens Aug. 25, giving advisors an 11-day runway to line up early-season clients before inventory goes live. The expanded ship count and added ports give advisors more angles to sell 2028 Europe now, ahead of the broader rush once bookings open.

Costa is offering free upgrades to balcony cabins at oceanview pricing across roughly 300 sailings on six ships through April 2027, spanning the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Canary Islands. The offer runs through Sept. 13, giving advisors about a month to lock clients into a better cabin category without raising the fare - a straightforward value lever for guests on the fence about the balcony upsell. Worth prioritizing for clients still deciding between oceanview and balcony on Caribbean or Mediterranean sailings booked in that window.

Norwegian Cruise Line's 2028 summer deployment adds 175 overnight or late-night port stays across more than 450 cruises, part of a fleet-wide push where port time now fills nearly 80% of cruise days. New overnights land at 53 ports, including Santorini, Livorno and Juneau. It's a deliberate contrast to the sea-day-heavy programming of larger-ship competitors, and gives advisors a specific selling point - more time ashore - for clients who prioritize destination over onboard time when 2028 booking opens.
